This is where one should draw the line. You should always not be project oriented and target minded. There are humans around you with flesh and blood walking around. And they too have a heart, a troubled one at that sometimes. You have to have a keen eye to spot that and address any grievances. Sometimes, it could be just a question of asking what’s wrong with the person. And he or she may open up.

All said, there are certain qualities that you should possess. The first one being, do not run down a colleague in front of your superiors especially when the said colleague is not around to hear it. Do not make judgmental calls about a coworker without really getting to know that person. And always look for signs of depression and be there to assist.
