Mark it, nuncle.
Have more than thou showest,
Speak less than thou knowest,
Lend less than thou owest,
Ride more than thou goest,
Learn more than thou trowest,
Set less than thou throwest,
Leave thy drink and thy whore
And keep in-a-door,
And thou shalt have more
Than two tens to a score.
This is day 19 of our decluttering series. I was mesmerized by Fool’s dialogue in the Shakespearean popular play, King Lear. It sets the right tone for understanding the process of decluttering and minimizing.
Let go of your ego and show less than you have. Don’t get caught up in the knowledge trap. Know your limits before you set out to help others.
Ride the wave of change, take in the challenges and know where you ought to go before you set sail. Listen more than you hear and use your judgment and wisdom before jumping to conclusions.
Don’t keep all your eggs in the same basket. It is a very freeing experience to not depend on one person, one opportunity, one relationship and one source of joy. Rather be self-sufficient and detached if you want to be in a consistent state of joy.
It further states that we must leave behind our temptations and not be driven by sense pleasures alone if we want true freedom and real lasting happiness. Stay within and leverage on your inner joy and you will emerge a winner.
