Social Media Emotions!

Hybrids are ruling the world. There were genuine flowers, herbs and shrubs in our backyard once upon a time, but now there are bonsai in a potted plant and fragrance less flowers in the office window that can stay alive without water.

Beauty is cosmetic and emotions are manufactured.

There was a quiet moment of romance and the bedroom doors were locked once upon a time, but now there is public display of affection and then there are videos of intimate moments open to the public at large to view.

True love is in the books – the old ones, apparently!

Laughter has become LOL and the joke is about a cat sporting a Hitler mustache. And then of course, the measure of the joke’s quality is the number of ‘Views’ and ‘Likes’.

You laugh once you are sure that the video has gotten enough ‘Likes’ not because you thought something is funny or amusing. You allow others to make a decision on your emotion. That is sad, really!

Children used to play in playgrounds once upon a time. They used to run around all day and ate anything and digested everything. The kids of today eat fast food, hit the couch and just stay there. Their playground is a play station and their friends are on the web.

People vent their anger about public issues on a social media platform and believe that their job is done and get back to work. There is no public participation or brainstorming face to face and palpable emotion that lead to change anywhere. Anonymously trolling and trying to be a hero with just words over the web is not courage, but cowardice.

Come out of the web of cobwebs that you have put yourself in . The world out there is real.
