The True Spirit of Christmas!

And He looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
And He saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
And He said, of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had
.” ~ (KJV) Luke 21:1-4

The Spirit of Christmas brings forth the spirit of gifting. Each heart is reminded of the purpose of being here. Isn’t Santa Claus symbolic of the core of charity and giving with enthusiasm and love?

Donna, my friend, was drawing the wisdom from the Bible to instate in her children the real essence of sharing. I was enthralled when I heard their meaningful exchange.

Ethan said, “Mom, we can give only when we have enough, when we are hand to mouth ourselves, how can we think about charity?” Donna smiled and said, “It is easy to give out of abundance but difficult to open your heart out of poverty. When I was young and wanted to serve at the church, it was challenging with my meager pocket money so I would take a bus instead of the cab or eat a bagel in place of a pie and save from my sacrifice to serve. It gave me immense satisfaction.” We all recounted our experiences and agreed unanimously that the joy of giving unconditionally truly surpassed the pleasure of only receiving.

Send Holiday Season Greetings!

The true spirit of Christmas and Santa is indeed in the coming together of friends and families and enjoy the spirit of giving and receiving unconditionally. Let your love be expressed in your actions. Let the bows, trinkets, baubles, lights and crepes not be able to outshine the light emanating from within you.
